Tajah M Ellis is an emerging multi-disciplinary artist, born, raised and currently residing in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. Her start within Journalism and Media Studies provided a spring board to seek, search and find. This, coupled with a design experience that is informed through her Caribbean lineage, agricultural sustenance, earth sustainability, alternative product usage and resource functions serves as a mechanism to connect, community build and be present.
In 2016, Ellis became a member of Tehuti Ma’at Community Garden, located in the heart of Weeksville. Connecting with the land has been a pivotal part of Tajah’s process, expanding her self definition into the ancient craft of natural dying with textiles and fibers. The beauty, saturation, intensity, durability of fibers as well as the maneuverability of dyes transforms the relationship of possibilities attainable through strategic planning, constant observation and magic orientation.
